ALSEAS, the Alliance for Southeast Asian Students, is in the third year of its revival on campus. Our main goals are to promote Southeast Asian studies and culture by organizing and co-sponsoring events open to the entire campus, and to foster a sense of community among the members of the diverse Southeast Asian population at Yale through informal gatherings. In addition to encouraging greater collaboration between the established Southeast Asian groups, we hope to especially outreach to members with interests in underrepresented regions. As a coordinating body, we also provide institutional support for our member groups: ALIVE (A Learning and Interactive Vietnamese Experience), KASAMA (The Filipino Club at Yale), MASA (Malaysian and Singaporean Association), SATAY (Student Association of Thais at Yale), and ViSA (Vietnamese Students Association).
Our mission is to:
(1) promote Southeast Asian studies and culture, raise awareness of travel and study abroad opportunities, and organize pan-Asian events open to the Yale community
(2) encourage a sense of community in the Southeast Asian and Southeast Asian American population at Yale
(3) & provide structural support to our member groups
We encourage you to explore our site and learn how to get involved! For more information, please contact yale.alseas@gmail.com.
